From New York Times bestselling author, Nicole Williams Nina can’t let herself fall in love with the man she’s going to marry. Both of them have experienced the sting and sham of love and have no intentions of falling victim to it twice. Love is expensive—hate is free. Three years. A million dollars. A solution to both of their problems. They planned it all, from the story of their first meeting to the date of their divorce. Nothing could go wrong. But what they didn’t consider was chemistry, and Nina and Max have no shortage of it. After too many near-kisses, Nina convinces herself that hating Max is better than loving him, and the more she gets to know this soon-to-be-husband of hers, the more she discovers just how very much she truly, madly, and deeply . . . hates him. This isn’t a love story. This is the other kind.

Nicole Williams is an "instant-click" and download author for me. I have enjoyed all of the books I have purchased from this author, and this book is no exception. I know that anyone who tends to flock to romance novels has read at least one "a marriage of convenience theme." With that being said, I believe Nicole was able to add some twists into this story that I have not seen from other authors (or at least maybe didn't appreciate at the time).

Nina is a character that is both charming, and insecure. Max is swoon worthy in not just his looks, but his actions. I know that a lot of reviewers will tell you that it's an instant hate-to-love scenario, and I will agree with them, but for different reasons. Max never hides from the reader that he is attracted to Nina. There is almost an underlying tone that he feels unworthy of her. He enjoys her wit, and maybe even appreciates the fact that she is beautiful in her own way (and she doesn't even realize it). It's more fear than hate that is his motivation for pushing her away. This is a man that is beautiful to look at, but feels like he is always lacking. Of course he is going to be an affectionate lover! That tends to be Nicole's theme, and I love that from her. This was definitely a light hearted read (especially in comparison to Collared), but I enjoyed it none the less.

This was a sweet hea book. A solid 3.5 rating. I loved the banter begween the main characters. The story was fun and there was many elements to it. The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 was all the unanswered questions. What about the ex-fiance, the nosy neighbor, the bff, the rude brother, and the parents?!?! I wish the epilogue touched on some of those points. But it was still an enjoyable read.
Ahhh Nicole Williams! She knows just how to build up emotions and connection, then break your heart, only for it to take off and soar in the end. Max is a fantasy made real on these pages. He's every woman's dream. I adored him. Nina is the scored woman who matches his scorn title for tat. Hate Story was a beautifully written, emotional, heart string pulling story that I couldn't put down. Xoxox
I like this book. I would suggest it.
Affordable price.
The characters grow on you, and the plot and writing is good.
As the characters grow together to become one, they will swoon you in
I️ didn’t know what to expect from the beginning but certainly not how I️ felt once I️ finished. Max was a different kind of H that started out as your typical average wealthy good looking guy, but throughout constantly surprised you with the depth of emotions and the lengths he was willing to go to evolve for the woman he truly loved. Nina was very humble, complex yet straight forward in her approach to everything. She was very relatable and you can see why Max was capable of falling for her because she had a good heart. I don’t want to give anything away besides how amazing these two characters are so you’ll definitely have to read it for yourself. It’s not what I️ expected at all, but I’m very pleased I️ gave this one a try. Loved it.

***I️’m giving it four simply beautiful stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That's what Max called Nina. I looked it up and it means darling. How sweet he is to her. I knew just from the title Nina was going to have a hard time with letting Max in, but she had some steel doors covered in ice that he had to open. That was the aggravating part about her. I wonder if there are really people like that out there...that would turn away a good man over fear. I hope if you're out there...you'll learn from Nina and let him in much sooner. Beautifully written story Nicole!
Some say there is a fine line between love and hate. Both of these emotions can be all consuming. Hate Story by Nicole Williams is not a story of two strong emotions battling to overtake the other. It is a beautiful love story of two strong willed individuals on a journey of self discovery. Two people finding themselves as well as finding the perfect partner in life.

Nina agreed to marry Max so that he could obtain his green card for one million dollars. They have a three year contract that is perfectly synchronized to the very last detail. Max wants his green card so that he can remain in the United States the rest of his life. Nina needs the money to keep her grandmother's home. It's the perfect arrangement. Neither want a real marriage. Neither of them wants to fall in love. In fact, Nina doesn't believe in love. Love has let her down her entire life.

As Nina and Max embark on their arrangement they soon find they sincerely like one another. They find their attraction slowly building into something more. Something that isn't in the contract. Once they admit their true feelings it changes everything. Their contract is null and void.

Once they have broke the contract it has broken both of them. Now they have to face the real truths of their lives. They have to learn to deal with their real emotions. They have to choose their future.

Nicole Williams once again delivered an emotional love story that leaves the reader swooning. I highly recommend reading Hate Story by Nicole Williams.
4.5 stars. I loved this one! Truthfully I haven't read many stories with this trope, although I know they are out there. I adored Nina's spunk. There is nothing better than a strong-willed heroine who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. I thoroughly enjoyed her verbal sparing with Max. Although he tried to come across as a cold egomaniac, I was a Max fan from the beginning. Nina and Max's relationship certainly wasn't typical, but it still inspired the romantic feelings I love getting from a story. Hate Story was definitely another winner from Nicole Williams.
